How was Thursday night CC?
Sorry I wasn’t there.Any News?? Matt has been here, on and of, since Wed. night. He had two Basketball games in Ill so he was going back and forth. He is with us all dat to day and will watch the big game with us. I really enjoyed SB village and Experience, Tuesday. Now I’m enjoying the activities on TV, I had time for movies, this weekend, since Elliott was DT and I refused to be alone with 100, 000 people DT. I saw the Artist, The Big Miracle and One for the Money. The Artist I Recommend highly. It is definitely Oscar Worthy!!

From Souper to Super
We went to Second Helpings for soup tasting at their Souper Bowl Fundraiser… also bought a bowl. From there we went to the Super Bowl Village - we were there when the woman was suspended for 5 minutes while waiting to be rescued on the zip line. In reality the village was no big deal but we can say we were there! In fact we are going back Monday night to hear The Village People perform… they better do the YMCA because that is the only song I know. There also are fireworks at night.
The kitchen wall are finally stripped and washed. We decided on a paint color - the paint was going off sale so I couldn’t ask for CC input! A contractor is coming Monday to give me an estimate on drywall repair, putting in a recessed light… and if the price is right, I’ll even let him paint!
See everyone on Thursday!

Land of Ice and Snow
Real winter exists, and after living in Indianapolis for over 30 years it seems sometimes like I have gone soft on all of this! Lots of blowing and drifting and icy roads on the way down to New Ulm from the airport, but now am warm and comfortable at my folk’s house!
Also, I return to Indy on Tuesday Jan 31 (not Wed 2/1 like I said at CC) so I will be able to have CC at my house, no problem, on Thursday February 2!

computer mission accomplished
Bill purchased a new computer(nothing really fancy but the old one died). Kara came over and hooked it all up ..printer; scanner; internet. As these things usually go there were problems but after a few hours of fuming she had it all working. Then while she was on a tear she empried out the top shelf of the computer desk that had been accumulating old discs and manuals for machines we no longer even own. Bill now has another spot to pile his stuff up. See you Thursday at Kate’s (assuming she hasn’t moved by then

5 plus 14 equals 19th
Our next gathering is on the 19th. Enjoyed your visit and catching up on all the news. I took Joe Joe to the vet this morning. He had an infection and needed an antibiotic ($101 ouch). This morning he was staggering and seemed to be in pain.

In Memoriam ~ Ring out, wild bells~
One of my favorite New Years poems, wishing many blessings for 2012 to all the CC ladies!
From Lord Alfred Tennyson
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light:
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring out the grief that saps the mind
For those that here we see no more;
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.
Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.
Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
The faithless coldness of the times;
Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes
But ring the fuller minstrel in.
Ring out false pride in place and blood,
The civic slander and the spite;
Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.
Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.
Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

PT news
I had my session today for my sore shoulder. The outcome was positive. The therapist said that my shoulders(especially the left) were sore because they were so tight.i.e.lack flexibility. Uon moving my shoulder the tendons get pinched. When my shoulder hurt I avoided using it which diminished the range of motion and then exasperated the tightness. So she started me on stretching exercises.and I am optimistic that I will make good progress.
We have had a lovely visit with John and Shana. John received a smart phone and purchased a Kindle so he has been busy trying to figure them out. Shana stayed at kara’s and we really didn’t see much of her. Margie is not having surgery until March. CC here next week

Friday
The girls are counting down the days till Christmas and it is too close for comfort! This evening Ella is at her final rehearsal for the Sunday School program at church tomorrow afternoon. She has a solo to sing and is very excited about that. Delaney, Matthew and I did a little last minute shopping after supper tonight. Davie is wrapping some gifts. Steve is watching a DVD of “Les Mis” and soon Taylor will be here after collecting Ella at church, and will pick up Delaney and head back to Fishers. Melissa put in a full day’s work at her job. I have been busy with a million and one things, and look forward to some time tonight to just sit in the living room and relax.
Tis the season…

News from the Weekend
At 6:30 am I was wondering why we signed up for the 5 K Santa Hustle but once we got downtown I was glad we did. An invigorating run - 11 minute miles. I thought there were buckeyes at the end but it was chocolate covered cherries. We then went to Whole Foods where they were having their holiday sample dinner. Then home to do our own baking - pumpernickel bread and cookies.

Weekend Reports
I guess 10 posts is our limit so I thought I’d give everyone a place to post activities from their weekend activities. We are headed out to the murder mystery dinner for Dave’s office party. I shouldn’t be hungry as I was hungry after swimming so I came home and ate a snack which turned into dinner…
Sounds as if everyone is getting the end of the year doctor appointments in… Kate? Carol Fay? Barb? Susan - the dr. cracked my neck also… what does that have to do with my shoulder blade or your rotator cuff?

Surgery and Christmas pins
First surgery. Taylor had emergency surgery on Sunday afternoon for a severely infected and messed up gallbladder, also a stone in his appendix. He is home now from the hospital, pain yet but just now able to keep solid food now. He had been having gallbladder attacks (he now knows!) for the past several years. We are thankful!
Christmas Pins. Tonight at Poetry Plus we are having a guest speaker who will show us her collection of Christmas pins! Something a little different from our usual fare! All are welcome, 7:30 pm in the library at Pilgrim Luth. Church. (By the way, our new church is rapidly taking form at 106th and Shelborne Road, ready by next summer to move into.)

Adjustment
Had an appointment today for a chiropractic treatment. I had purchased a groupon for that and a massage. Not surprisingly the doctor said he thought he could help me feel better. My insurance pays for all but the $40 copay and includes a massage so I am inclined to go for it. The masseuse worked on my sore shoulder(rotator cuff) and really dug in there. I think it did some good. I will not be at cc this week because I have a dinner to attend from Bill’s small church group. My “mountain in the way back is about head high now. I used my flowtron leaf eater to shred about ten bags of leaves so thay will decompose better by spring. I plan to plant my hills with lots of butternut squash. The vines take up lots of room so having this area will be a good thing.

Bad news
I stayed home from work today. I have a bad head cold and a slight fever. I better put off CC for next week. I’ve been sleeping and drinking liquids. I am still hoping to go to Columbus this weekend but I’ll just have to see how I feel Friday. I’m not sure if I’ll stay home tomorrow or go to work. Sorry about tomorrow night but I better just relax the next few evenings.
