Where is the Sun?
Maybe that is why we decided on yellow paint - to bring sunshine! We decided on the color butter - it is a soft yellow. Saturday we didn’t have time to paint - we ate dinner at the symphony before the concert. With everything going on downtown the first available parking space was on the 7th floor. Marvin Hamlisch was entertaining but has put on weight and is walking rather stiffly - he is only 66. I googled the movie he is up for an award for - The Informant - if anyone wants to put it on their list. It was a film festival film.
Sunday it was painting - Dave did the closets while I did the trim. I can’t do the up and down paint rolling - aw shucks!
The forecast for Phoenix is gray skies, high chance of showers and thunderstorms so if that holds true - we will be painting again next weekend!

Glad your painting is in progress Maureen, it’s good you have an able assistant:) Hope you get out of town this weekend. Susan, the exercise class sounds great for you and Bill. I am trying to get Steve to go to the Y in the afternoon and use the treadmill. Today he went with me down to Lilly as I had my mammogram. Afterwards we had the retirees free lunch - a couple of old fogies we were!!
For my current project I am putting Christmas photos in albums at the same time that I am transferring 12 years of 8mm tapes onto DVD’s. When I finish that, I am going to start the even huger task of editing portions of “tons” of regular videotapes on to DVD’s. (Countless musical perfomances, holidays, birthdays, summer doings, trips….) And finally, I have a box of little 3 minute home movie reels that I am going to have professionally transferred onto DVD’s. I think we got that first movie camera when Matthew was a few months old so there are many memories contained on those reels. I am hoping to finish by the time we leave for Hawaii on February 19!

It’s great that you and Bill are exercising! I hope it can become a regular habit for him. I haven’t walked or used the treadmill for 4 days now - blame the gray skies and focus on painting!
Carol - I’ll stick to painting. Your project sounds overwhelming! I imagine that it takes special equipment to convert to DVD? We have some movies - let me know what professional you take yours to. I suppose setting a goal is motivating.
We will be in town this weekend - even the forecast for Hawaii didn’t look that great!
If anyone is looking for a good book ... The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It is a fictional account of a young white woman writing about the life of black maids and the society ladies in the 60’s in Mississippi.

Carol, what equipment did you need to transfer the 8mm to dvd? We have some of those. I had thought of taking them to a professional also. We leave tomorrow for Iowa—my quilt is done except for the hand sewing of the binding—will probably be doing that in the car. I have to get meals together for them tonight—I will keep it simple. I’ll take a picture of the quilt.

Maureen, the forecast for Hawaii almost always says “chance of showers”, because almost always there are raindrops somewhere on the islands, if only for a short time. Remember, it’s known as “The Rainbow State”!! Not that you would be heading there for a weekend anyway!! Hope things clear up soon for you to have an AZ getaway!
For video transferring I am using a Toshiba DVD video recorder/ video cassette recorder (D-VR610KU) that we bought last year for this reason. It plays DVD’s and Videocassettes, and also has these recording capabilities - inputs for your hand held 8mm or video cassette recorder. You could also record straight to DVD (or videocassette) from something you watch on TV. It’s pretty slick - not complicated at all. I think we paid around $250. I would guess there is a newer model by this time, and it likely costs less!
Yes Kate, do take a picture of the quilt! Have you seen picutres of Evelyn Hope yet? Bet you can’t wait to get on the road tomorrow!!

I guess this gloomy weather is what one sees in Seattle all winter long. You trade slightly warmer temps for constant moisture. I prefer warmer and sunny.
Bill and I went to silver sneakers at the JCC. It was surprisingly vigorous. On Tuesday and Thursdays there is the muscular strength class. Bill survived and will go with me on Thursday too. There were over 40 people in the class.
Doctor Oz says that artificial nails are not good. Will I have to get rid of mine?
