Too Hot for the fair

We decided to go to a movie, today, instead of the fair. We hope to go to the fair Thursday evening. Today it’s the Time Traveler’s wife. Ten the Fever game tonight. Errands and house cleaning tomorrow. Did I tell you it’s Friday when we decide what the plan is for retiring? Elliott is hoping to be the building sub for NC. Judy’s daughter is enjoying here job as art teacher at Westlane.B obby is trying to get on as a sub for washington Township but was told he has to go through an orientation first. No date, just that it would be soon. He does like helping at Butler. He got tickets, for last night’s Colts game, from one of the baseball coaches. Get this, the tickets were on the floor and big bicks!!!

There is supposed to be another free ticket for the fair next week in the Star for Tuesday or Wednesday.

I am hoping that it all works out for Elliot and you. I certainly understand being fed up. I wasn’t as distressed over work conditions as that I just could not continue the enthusiasm for the extra hours needed for the paperwork. (and that I mostly slept when I was not at work.) The shock will be when he finds out how much he will have to pay for health insurance. I am going to be paying $800 a month. And in our case we will be paying for Bill’s medicines under the plan for Medicare which is very costly.

Maureen I think I would just have refused to pick up the dog. People always think that their dog (or child) is loved by everyone and they tend to take it personally when their loved one is rejected. So it is a difficult situation.

Oh one additional consideration: if he retires and gets retirement $$ he can’t get paid for teaching for 30 workdays(it might be only calendar days) or they take his retirement money back. I think he would not be able to get retirement pay and pay as a fulltime sub until he is out for those 30 days. Also if he teaches for 60 days that counts as an additional half year. This includes sick days. 120 days count as a full year. For example if he needed to be on sick leave for the rest of the fall that would count towards retirement. I have a friend who took off for almost a full year because of mental distress and then retired. Make sure Elliot has it all figured out before he does anything rash.

Talk about ups and downs… and Elliot started the year on such a high note.  Making these decisions are emotionally draining!

Our trip to my brothers went well.  The trip up took and extra hour due to I65 being closed - so I am glad we didn’t have the dog.  My brother from CA and his girlfriend spent all of Saturday and Sunday morning certifying my sister and another brother for scuba diving. My Chicago brother has a deep enough pool. I feel like I should be certified just watching them do it - it was more work and more involved than I (and they) would have imagined!  So now the pressure is on - out of 8 children 4 can scuba dive and of the 8 grandchildren, 6 have been diving.

My brothers name (which I won’t repeat in case outsiders are reading this) got several of the guests on the Seadog (some type of boat ride), a lunch cruise during the Air and Water Show, and the Ferris Wheel - with pictures at all venues! I opted for a relaxing day poolside.
