Elliott’s first day

I’m thrilled to report that Elliott had a very good first day of teaching at Attucks. He has three classes of seventh graders and three classes of tenth graders. He said thhe seventh graders looked so small to him but what he couldn’t get over was how POLITE the students were and how much they SMILED. He said it wasn’t at all like BR. Sue, I just realized I have four friends that retired from teaching and all four are not 62 yet so the aren’t collecting SS yet. my friend Kitzi, the special Ed teacher from North View is the latest friend, besides you, that has retired. She is commuting between here and Omaha. Did any of you say you were going to the fair? I’m going Saturday and of course it’s supposed to get hot and humid again. I took Honet for a walk, this morning, and it was very pleasant.

Next entry: Too Hot for the fair

Previous entry: Whew!

I am glad that Elliot got off to a positive start - it always helps to make a better year!

Susan, I forgot to thank you for the wine bottles.  Two of them were an interesting - arty - shape.

I took the chickens way out and told my niece that she would have to ask Rachel when she asked me if we could take her dog with us to Chicago tonight.  She and her husband are staying on the Indiana side of Chicago Friday night for a meeting Saturday morning. There will be 25 people and 4 dogs - 2 belong there.  No one wants to be the bad guy and say no - but kennel anyone?  I would even consider paying!

Carol—Mom and I went to the fair yesterday from 4-7.  We took the free shuttle from Glendale which really made it easy.  It was great weather, not too crowded, we saw some horse jumping and a parade and the World’s Largest Boar—always a highlight!
Maureen—I don’t understand, are you supposed to transport the dog to Chicago? or are you going to be up there and they need a dog-sitter?

Her original plan was to meet up with her Mom on the Indiana toll road somewhere as her mom is driving from Akron - with my Dad and a dog.  Kitty was then going to transport my dad and 2 dogs the rest of the way to Aurora and be responsible for both dogs till Marie would get there sometime Saturday afternoon. My brothers would take over the care of my Dad.  Since that was going to be hard to time the hand off of the dogs, Marie asked us to transport the dog and assured me that her mom would take care of her once we arrived.  Rachel does not want to share the back seat with a dog and we don’t trust the dog since she has nipped several people and we don’t want to handle her since she is a very strong dog.  The dogs that live in Aurora are very well behaved - show dogs but the 2 guest dogs run around like speed demons and don’t obey commands very well. Like I said ... kennel anyone?

Judy, Vicki and I are going to the fair tomorrow. Carol, is your Mom visiting here? Maureen, I sure wouldn’t deal with a dog that nips, especially in an enclosed car!! One day was it. Elliott told me last night he is retiring. He can’t stand more than a week!! He said they are so disorganized, no text books, not enough desks, etc, and he is too old for this. He can’t sleep at night. I’ll let you know the latest when I see him tonight. Maureen, I still have wine bottles but I realized they aren’t empty yet.
