Carol’s FB post.

Ladies,
Since we are all concerned about Carol I saw her Facebook post and copied it to the comments on our CC previous post. I mentioned to her we were concerned so she might post on CC, I don’t know. I’m at work until 5:00 and have access to a computer, at the desk. Sue I don’t know if you knew the Meshulams on Delbrook. First the husband passed away and now Ruth, the wife, just died. Elliott and I are going to her funeral, tomorrow. I saw Sally Brindle at the son’s home when the family was sitting Shivah for Mr. Meshulam. I can’t remember if I mentioned this family at CC when we were at Barb’s house. The grandchildren are Ryan and Eric.

how sad about Mrs. Meshulam, they were nice neighbors to us on Delbrook.  I saw awhile back about their 50th or 60th anniv., and then I saw that he died - and now her.  They were so close, I wonder if she died from grief.

She had Lung Cancer and was sick for a while. In fact Mr. Meshulam’s passing was more of a surprise than Ruth’s passing. I saw her at her husband’s Shiva house and she was pretty bad then. She was in a nursing home and wasn’t eating! Carol, I totally forgot you would know her which is silly. You were also her neighbor. Carol I’m relieved you are ok! Your vacation has sounded great up to the tsunami warning.

Sounds like Hawaii missed the brunt of the waves. Apparently the Samoas got hit.

Is everyone following the Carmel scandal in horror? You think your kids are safe at school. Did you see the letter to the editor about Greenbriar pass rate on ISTEP being so poor and the day after the results were announced a news release that a teacher won a grant ($!)to learn fencing?

I think they are about ready to sound the all clear here.  Definitely wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but there were visible signs of the surge that could be seen from our our lanai.  I took pics of the corduroy waves, and of the surges that left the coral showing and then covered.  The sailboats and yachts (hundreds of them) that left the harbor are all headed back in, quite a sight to behold.  So, Steve and I are ready to head down to the beach in search of lunch!!  It has been an interesting experience, much like the blizzard that didn’t quite arrive as anticipated or the tornado that skipped over us after all!!

thanks for being safe and reporting to us. will you be looking for food washed onto the beach? Or going to a restaurant? Did you get any photos of the many boats or the waves? what is a corduroy wave? Something I read said that new seniors no longer want to collect things but want to collect experiences. You are getting yours.

haha Susan.  Actually, not too funny as restaurants (I guess there are a handful)along our beach walk were closed until 5pm or later, so we opted to go across Ala Moana Blvd and get Subways which we brought back to eat on our lanai!  I always put each day’s photos up on my Picasa Web Album, if anyone is interested I can post the link.

I haven’t wanted to make anyone feel obligated - I have done this for the past 10 or so trips as it was a good way to share with Steve’s folks the things we did together and now when just Steve and I are here.  I will put the link on a separate post after we go have breakfast!
