Buzzing Saws

All Points is here right now, taking down the apple tree and several large limbs on the sycamore and hackberry, also a little trimming on an oak and maple.  Quite a large crew, and Larry is also helping.

We had a nice weekend.  Saturday we all went to eat at TGI Friday’s for Melissa’s birthday, then came back here for cupcake birthday cake.  She loved the bike we gave her.  Then on Sunday at church Delaney took her First Communion and that was quite touching to be present at.  She was very serious about the whole ceremony and had made a pretty ceramic chalice that was used for serving communion.  We gave her an angel figurine and a book of devotions for young girls - both of which Delaney liked alot.

We are planning to go and pick apples at Stuckey Farm on Saturday if the weather is nice.

I feel that Larry is part of the family!  What kind of bike did you give Melissa? Does Taylor ride?  Did Delaney wear the white dress like Catholics do or is it just your Sunday best?  I think watching our kids receive the sacraments was more meaningful than receiving them myself.

Larry and I had a long chat last Thursday when he came to give us the estimate - I bet we talked for at least 30 or 40 minutes!!  Had to hear the history of all the good or bad employees he has had over the years.  Right now he also drives a school bus for elementary Wash. Twp.  Anyway, the crew did a great job as usual.

The bike we gave Melissa is a reconditioned 10 speed that I bought from the bike man at 105th and Westfield.  Can’t remember the brand, but it is one that would be about $300. new and we paid I think $75.

No white dress for Delaney.  In fact it was just her and one other girl - Delaney had on a deep pink lacy sweater and brown with tiny pink polka dot skirt.  Vanessa had on a dark brown top and a deep pink skirt.  As they stood at the altar it looked like they purposely coordinated their clothes!  I can email you the link to the photo album on Picasa if you want to see pics and a little video clip of part of the service.

Carol, I would like the link to the photo album!I’d like to see Delaney’s first communion. Donna and I are trying to get together to pick apples but with the Jewish Holidays it’s taking up my weekends. I did enjoy going home for Rosh Hashana. I enjoyed two days of eating, talking to relatives and praying. My Aunt’s stone dedication and the luncheon went well.

I joined a book club - makes me thankful for our no rules!  What is this ... telling you what to do when you host - have to have a red and white wine, little munchies at the beginning and a dessert at the end! Other than that - it is a group of women from St. Monica so we will see how it goes. If anyone has a good idea for a book - I need to pick one.

Bill has been looking for a good used bike, does the “bike man” have a shop?

Maureen, how long has the book club been meeting?  I agree, I like the way we do business here at CC!!  Do they keep a list of what books have been read?

CarolFay I will email you the link for the photo album.

Kate - Mr. Goettl (elderly fellow) works on bikes in his garage, on his own schedule.  Sometimes he has a bike or two in his front yard with a sign “Bikes for Sale - Come on In” and his garage door is open.  Other times there are no bikes and garage door is shut (like this morning when I was up that way).  So the best thing is to give him a call - I will bring his card to CC next time.

It is a brand new book club so whoever is hosting it chooses the book - it doesn’t matter if other people have read it as long as the club hasn’t.  My turn is in May - there are 15 people.  We will be meeting the 3rd Tuesday of the month except for December.

I just read The Soloist, there’s certainly enough in there to discuss.
