RAIN RAIN GO AWAY
At least the weekend was pleasant! We have reached the saturation point in the yard after all the rain so that after this rain we now have standing water by the shed. Should be interesting what the weather continues to be the rest of the summer.
No plans for the week except sleep later than I usually do since Dave is in Calgary. He showed up at the airport 12 hours early for his flight. He thought it departed at 6:30 AM ...

Sorry about last night
Matt ran late ( he was helping Elliott’s parents, with their house, for two hours) so he didn’t get to Outback until 8:00. We talked alot and then went to the Drugstore. Maureen, there is a scrabble group that meets Friday mornings at Pike. Kathy, did you and Barb tell Sue about her sister? What are all of your Father’s Day plans? Since the boys are out of town we plan to clean the yard and rest. I am going to Jersey Boys, at Murat, tomorrow. Elliott hasn’t mentioned anything with his parents. I’m going to Munster around the 1st of July for about five days. We will, go to the Taste of Chicago, a gambling boat, etc.and celebrate birthdays and holidays. Elliott will stay home.

CC tonight
I am still planning to come but Matt is taking Elliott and I to Outback, for an early Father’s Day at 7:00 so I’m not sure when I’ll get to Maureen’s house. Matt and Bobby will both be out of town Sunday. Hope to see all of you tonight unless it gets too late. Last night Kitzi took Elliott and me out for dinner, for my Birthday and we didn’t get home until 10:00.

back to earth
The party over we headed for Colorado. Bill’s relatives all live out there: 2 sisters, husbands, 3 nieces , 2 nephews and six darling children. We started in Denver with a baseball game and went to Boulder the next day. The Celestial Seasons tea factory tour was a hit and the campus is lovely. The ambiance of the outdoor mall is pricey posthippie with lots of musicians and performers. John was impressed. We stopped at an outlet mall on the way to a resort area in the mountains. John purchased many clothes(20 tshirts and 3 pair of shoes for starters)and I found a few “needed”: items too.We mostly relaxed, hiked and went to the Farmers market. then on to the Western slope to visit his other sister. We rode the gondola in Tellueride and then were awed by the black canyon of the Gunnison. Family visiting was lots of fun. Our trip ended last night at 2:00a. In the morning I picked up the pooches from Kara and returned home to nap on the couch for five hours with the two doggies on top of me. The black raspberry crop is plentiful this year. Come with containers.

Weekend Activities
Rachel came home Saturday to help celebrate Aunt Gloria’s 84th birthday. Dave made the 1 1/2 hour loop drive picking up his Dad and Aunt Gloria and then back home. After lunch we played scrabble, hearts, and sequence before making the loop drive to take everyone home but this time we ended at the POPS concert - Michael Cavanaugh played rock and rolls hits - almost had us dancing in the aisle!.
Sunday after a late breakfast Rachel, Dave, and I went on a 20 mile bike ride. What a way to break in my seat! The most I had done so far was a 5 mile ride. We did not join Rachel for a run after the ride! She is training for her triathlon.
Hope to see everyone Thursday.

Cherrington Beach Cleaner to pick up tar balls from the BP oil disaster
Just got this email from my brother Craig, and I am more than proud to share it with you all:
I was just watching the NBC news and in a story about the BP oil spill they showed a Cherrington Beach Cleaner outfitted to pick up tar balls on Orange Beach Alabama! (I can still remember Linda and I traveling in 100+ degree weather to Texas in a little black pick up with no air conditioner in the early 80’s to retrieve that first beach cleaner and then the very first sale of our very own machine I sold using the sand left over from my sand blasting area at USA trailer sales!)
Who would have thought that would lead to the Cherrington Beach Cleaner being sold world wide and featured on many TV programs and magazine articles around the world. Judi and Dad did a hell of a job to get it to the point it is today and should be proud as should all those family and co-workers that supported all of us that produced and sold that machine and all of the additional models, over the years. Our dad really is a once in a million engineer, very few people realize the kind of thought and precision required to do the things he does.
Its on right now on NBC..
I guess this is as close as I will ever come to being famous:) I am going to see if I can find the news piece and if I do, I will post the link.

Poetry Plus for June
You are all invited to attend Poetry Plus this Wednesday June 9 at 10 am in the library at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. CarolFay’s friend (from Columbus, Ohio) Mary Ann Grove is with us again, and will be presenting a program “More of God’s Wonders”. Some of you were at her first program a year ago in April when she brought her Saints collection.
Hope to see you there!
PS to CarolFay: We had to change from Tuesday night because only 2 of us could make it from our regular group!!! So Mary Ann suggested Wed. morning, and that way more of us can be there. She said they are staying at your house, so hopefully you can come to hear her.

Party party
Bill and I had a swell time visiting with all our guests. We were both thrilled at the turn out. I think our guests enjoyed themselves too. Kate, Barb and Carol sat with my sister so I will need to pump them. When dinner and a few speeches were done most people left even though the bar was still open. Our bartender, a recent college grad, said she had never seen so many people leave while the bar was still open. We explained that a lot of old folks want to get home before it is dark. The decorations by Kara were extremely clever. Jim and John both had amusing speeches. We had plenty of food with half of a tenderloin(of four originally) left over. We are expecting some out of towners for brunch so I made two french bread casseroles and a big fruit salad. So we might have leftovers from that too. Bill and John are going to Bement tomorrow. So who wants to come over for a brunch/open house tomorrow0 say 11:00? You are all invited. I love my new mantle and wall ( although I was sorry I had to paint it myself when my handyman had family problems that took over his life)

Busy Times for All
Hard to believe that it is the end of May - and that we even had such a rainy cool month after the last few days!
The trip to Cincinnati was very nice. Rachel really appreciated having us to help her transport the bike to the triathlon and being there to cheer her on. She had selected a nice restaurant for dinner on Friday and brunch on Saturday. After brunch at noon we took the hint and left when Rachel said we could occupy ourselves while she took a nap. We were leaving anyway.
We’ll see how much we can get our house organized before we leave for Akron. Marie will be spending the week here.
Susan - doesn’t it do your soul good knowing that there are other trash raiders! Was he actually going to use them as pool stairs? Hope Bill BD celebration goes well - sorry we will miss it… unless Kevin calls and uninvites us!

Reporting in
Glad that Kate and CarolFay had nice travels - such cute news about the wee ones Kate! What kind of azalea do you have that is still blossoming?! (And how appropriate your description is what with my niece becoming a sweet bride this Sunday) Maureen, I had thought I’d get over to preview your floors today, but my errands took longer than planned and I didn’t have any time left over! I bet your house looks fantastic.
I have been pretty busy outside, trying to get things accomplished before we leave for Minnesota. We are leaving real early Friday morning - so I don’t know if I will make it over to CC at your house CarolFay. We are staying in Rochester - the wedding is in the little town of Byron 4 miles west of there, and then the reception is at the Rochester Art Center. We are driving up to the cities on Monday to see Steve’s folks - a bit open ended about our return day right now. There are so many friends we could also visit in the Twin Cities, and then head farther north to Pine City and find more to see.
I haven’t seen the fox again since last week, but at least I got a good picture of him. He seemed very bold actually, just stood by our back patio and stared back at me when I took his picture.

Preview Tours
AAHHH!! The installers came up about a dozen planks short - if that! They will be back on Thursday along with the men to install the runner on the steps. The steps were sanded today and will get one more coat on Tuesday. They really match the rest of the flooring very nicely. The house looks so spacious - so now I need some small area rugs to bring it together for a cozy feel.
Let the cleaning begin! If anyone wants to stop by I’ll generally be here.

Conversation Club this week?
I am starting a new post. I want to make sure everyone sees it and lets me know if they can come to my house this Thursday. I’m off Wednesday, for my birthday, but Elliott is off also. We are taking Honey to a new Vet and I have lunch plans. Then I hope to come home and get some cleaning done. It’s not just for CC, it’s also because my nephew, Josh, is coming next weekend for a couple of days. Carol, did you say you would be gone the 27th? I just can’t have cc the next week. I work two nights and Zumba on Tuesday. I can’t wait to tell all of you about my trip. I have about 200 pictures. I have one of those digital frames I’ll turn on.

Way to spend a rainy day
The men arrived at 9 to begin the floor project. I am secluded upstairs, the house is a mess and will get messier. I just keep reminding myself how much I wanted this done - and trying to decide what the next project will be!
We picked up our “new” van Sunday - it belonged to Dave’s Dad - 2002 with only 20,000 miles and a dead battery. I am still attached to my van so it may take awhile to get rid of it.
